TIRED OF CHRISTIAN FICTION FOR YOUTH? AUTHOR
MICHAEL STORM HAS BEEN FOR YEARS. HIS NEW
NOVEL BIBLEGIRL RAISES BAR – AGAIN
In his latest novel author Michael Storm
continues to break new ground and gives teen
readers an inspiring new heroine and a
faith-based story above the norm. Hot off
the presses, and Storm’s lucid alternative
imagination, BIBLEGIRL presents a fresh,
vital and entertaining action adventure
starring a quite ordinary, but not quite,
teenager called Vicky Sheldon.
Vicky Sheldon is no ordinary crime fighter.
At 16 she is just like any other Christian
teenage girl dealing with the daily issues
of appearance, grades, boys, God’s will
etc. But she has one thing that sets her
apart from her piers. She is seriously
zealous for the Word of God. The world needs
it and she’s gonna deliver it. For the task
she has created a secret persona. An alter
ego called Biblegirl.
Biblegirl is a crime-fighting, sin-battling,
unbelief-quenching, hard-hitting spiritual
dynamo, filled with the Word of God and not
afraid to use it. Whenever danger and crime
rears its ugly head Vicky will don her alter
ego – and her homemade superhero suit – and
go into battle with the Word of God as her
weapon. This world being what it is her
mission is on-going. Up till now it’s
amounted to nighttime raids on the city’s
notice boards to put up scripture verses.
But
soon a dark nemesis named Phearann Pannick
makes an appearance. Electronics genius at
best. Psychopathic killer at worst. The
disturbed young man is bent on revenge for
the suffering caused to his immigrant family
by political decisions when he was a small
boy. The trauma has filled him with insane
hatred which has followed him, shaped him
and now controls him. Biblegirl’s encounter
with this deranged soul is a fiery one, to
say the least.
Orphaned at a young age, Vicky Sheldon lives
with her eccentric grandfather in a small
apartment over his little corner bookstore
in the older part of Stoker Bay. His
business is not a success and they’re often
short of money. But Humphrey Sheldon loves
his granddaughter with all his heart and
does his best. She is all he has.
Until his retirement Mr Sheldon was a
military engineer in the Special Branches.
That meant he worked in hidden laboratories
and underground vaults with ‘classified
asset development’.
As
Vicky grows and her extra-curricular
activities show no sign of slowing down,
Humphrey is compelled to put some of his old
skills to work and Biblegirl’s ministry gets
a boost of some very imaginative high-tech.
Which will prove to be a lifesaver in more
ways than one.
BIBLEGIRL is Michael Storm’s first book
about Vicky Sheldon and her growth to
heroics. With an often comical touch the
story shows that it is not easy being a
Christian teenage girl moving towards
womanhood in a secular world. A subject that
seems to interest Storm. With two daughters
of his own, he knows the road. But with the
Word in your heart and with Grace, daily
fresh, growth and wisdom will come and the
inspirational point in BIBLEGIRL is, if
Vicky Sheldon can do it, so can you.
Michael Storm’s BIBLEGIRL is not to be
confused with the character of the same name
appearing in the Bibleman video series for
smaller children.
“Vicky Sheldon lives in a dark and adult
world,” says Storm of his character and her
universe. “Kind of a Gotham City grittiness
going on, with criminal geniuses, murderous
psychos, burned-out hookers and a good
healthy dose of brutal death. Doesn’t all
end happily either. But there’s hope.”
